State Rep. Rudy Hobbs, a Southfield Democrat, received a big boost this morning from former governor Jennifer Granholm in his bid to win the heavily Democratic U.S. House seat being vacated by Congressman Gary Peters.In an email this morning to friends and longtime supporters, Granholm gave a glowing endorsement to Hobbs, who served on her gubernatorial staff.
“Rudy is exactly the right person to represent this diverse district. Nowhere will you find a candidate with the breadth of experience, passion, dedication and deep roots that Rudy has,” Granholm wrote.
“He will be a regional leader, tackling tough issues and working to end the gridlock paralyzing our nation’s capital.”
Hobbs is a former teacher, school board member and staffer for Congressman Sandy Levin. He declared his candidacy early in the 14thDistrict, which stretches from the Detroit River west and north through a swath of Detroit and several Oakland County suburbs.
Peters, of course, is giving up his House seat to make a 2014 run for U.S. Senate.
