Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh today showed up for her official duties, including taking the minutes for the Board of Commissioners meeting, dressed in a Justin Verlander T-shirt.
The clerk granted a special one-day exception to the usual dress code so that all of her employees could wear Tigers attire in advance of tonight’s big playoff game. The rule did not necessarily apply to the clerk’s employees who work inside the county courtrooms. Each judge determined whether Tigers shirts would be proper. (You know -- those guys and gals prefer black.)
Apparently, Sabaugh has the power to make such a decision without approval from the Board of Commissioners. Good thing. The commissioners might have debated and delayed a decision until about Opening Day of 2014.
