Doug Skrzyniarz gets a high five from his son Brennan at Roger’s Roost after he won a seat on the Sterling Heights City Council. An associate vice president at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, Skrzyniarz, a first-time candidate, finished a strong second among eight candidates vying for six seats on the council. The photo was shot by David Angell, a frequent freelancer for The Macomb Daily.
