Bill Savage submitted this photo of Miners Falls at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore to the 2013 Pure Michigan's Michigan Moments Photo Contest. But he was not the winner.
That honor went to Carla White of Christmas, located in the Upper Peninsula, for a shot of a sunset over Lake Superior, just west of Bay Furnace Park in Christmas. The Top 10 photos, according to MLive,featured eight pics from the UP.
The winning photo will be published in the 2014 spring-summer Pure Michigan Travel Guide. One million copies of the guide will be printed, with 650,000 copies being distributed with the March-April issue of Midwest Living Magazine.
More than 3,000 photos ranging from picturesque landscapes to urban adventures and featuring all four seasons and destinations across the state were submitted to Pure Michigan through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. In total, 56,211 votes were cast during the contest.
