NRA enemies list loaded with LOL lunacy

The National Rifle Association’s enemies list has surfaced and it contains enough nutty comic material to keep any anti-gun activist entertained for hours.
The NRA’s view of an enemy, someone who shouldn’t be trusted but should be scoped out, includes a vast array of celebrities (from Mel Brooks to Sylvester “Rambo” Stallone) and music artists (from Barry Manilow to Chakha Khan).
Barry Manilow? Seriously? How could anyone consider the prince of putrid love songs the adversary of a gun-lovers group?

Those who the NRA are keeping an eye on range from Geraldo Rivera to ex-Olympian figure skater Tara Lapinski to former NFL quarterback Vinnie Testaverde. Maybe their concern is that Vinnie is a poor example because every time he gets his hands on a gun it’s quickly intercepted by a thief.

Others in the NRA’s sights are Carrie Fisher (Princess Leah prefers light sabers), Sean Connery (apparently they’re ready to mess with 007) and Sally Field (“you don’t like me, you really don’t like me”). John McEnroe is understandable – you have to be prepared if he blows his top – but NSync and Boyz II Men? Huh?
The list targets 497 people and organizations from every walk of life. But, in comparison to the creepy internal machinations of Joe McCarthy or Richard Nixon, the NRA approach to documenting enemies is even more paranoid and irrational.

It appears that the macho men of the NRA are locked and loaded, ready to defend themselves against Hallmark Cards, Nickelodeon TV, and Ben and Jerry’s – the ice cream guys. Others on the list who incense the gun nuts are the League of Women Voters, the National Parent-Teachers Association, the YWCA, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the AARP.
What a scary group.
In addition, Wayne Lapierre and Co. seem to deeply distrust church groups. Those who make them a bit trigger happy – at least in their minds – are the Union of American Hebrew Congregations, the U.S. Catholic Conference, the United Methodist Church, and the United Church of Christ.
Keep your clergymen close and your friends closer.
