When U.S. Labor Secretary Thomas Perez gave some remarks last week in Warren after touring a Macomb Community College job-training facility, he offered glowing praise of MCC President Jim Jacobs and at least twice referred to him as “Mr. President.”
Perez was at the college’s M-TEC center to formally announce the awarding of $25 million for training programs at Michigan community colleges, with MCC playing the lead role. Perez said it’s no accident that MCC is now widely recognized as one of the nation’s premier job-training institutions.

“You have a national leader here in President Jacobs,” Perez said. “That is a fact. I’ve been involved in this issue (continuing education) for a dozen years and the name that always comes up everywhere when discussing community college training programs is Jim Jacobs.”
