An ongoing discussion within the NSA centers on whether to offer amnesty to Edward Snowden, in exchange for the former agency worker surrendering the (apparently millions) of secret documents he still has in his possession.
After CBS' "60 Minutes" ran a lengthy report about this issue on Sunday, the White House on Monday sharply rebuked the idea that Snowden will be given a deal. Press Secretary Jay Carney said the whistleblower/thief can return home and face the U.S. judicial system.
Former UN ambassador John Bolton has a different idea. When he was asked about possible amnesty for Snowden, Bolton said:
"My view is Snowden is a traitor. He ought to be convicted of that crime, and he should swing from the highest tree."
